Thai Basil Beef

A great, simple recipe for lunch or dinner. It’s both sweet and savory. Adjust the number of peppers depending on your spice tolerance. 3 is quite spicy.
Ingredients
- 500 g extra lean ground beef
- 1 cup (30 g) fresh basil, stems removed
- 5 cloves garlic (16 g), finely minced
- 3 Thai red chilis, finely minced (adjust to taste; I used 3 for more spice!)
- 40 mL low sodium soy sauce
- 20g raw organic honey
- 200 g cooked/50 g raw jasmine rice, divided
- 2 sunny-side up eggs, divided
- chili crisp oil (optional)
Instructions
- Season and cook ground beef in a grease pan over medium-high heat for ~6 minutes, stirring occasionally before letting it sit slightly to darken/crisp up.
- Push beef to side, then add soy sauce, honey, garlic, and chilis. Sauté for ~1 minute, until lightly browned and fragrant.
- Remove from heat and add basil, stirring until lightly wilted (~1 minute). Serve over rice and top with an egg. Enjoy!
