Thai Basil Beef

Thai Basil Beef

A great, simple recipe for lunch or dinner. It’s both sweet and savory. Adjust the number of peppers depending on your spice tolerance. 3 is quite spicy.

Ingredients

  • 500 g extra lean ground beef
  • 1 cup (30 g) fresh basil, stems removed
  • 5 cloves garlic (16 g), finely minced
  • 3 Thai red chilis, finely minced (adjust to taste; I used 3 for more spice!)
  • 40 mL low sodium soy sauce
  • 20g raw organic honey
  • 200 g cooked/50 g raw jasmine rice, divided
  • 2 sunny-side up eggs, divided
  • chili crisp oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season and cook ground beef in a grease pan over medium-high heat for ~6 minutes, stirring occasionally before letting it sit slightly to darken/crisp up.
  2. Push beef to side, then add soy sauce, honey, garlic, and chilis. Sauté for ~1 minute, until lightly browned and fragrant.
  3. Remove from heat and add basil, stirring until lightly wilted (~1 minute). Serve over rice and top with an egg. Enjoy!
